At Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco

Martin Justin ‘Marty’ David

“Capturing the essence - that’s what it is all about for me and my artwork.”

Plein air is his style. Marty packs his French easel with him, an artists’ box-contraption that he unfolds on the spot at whatever wharf or whatever street or field or bridge suits his fancy.

“I paint what inspires me at the moment and I feel a part of it all somehow when it happens. When that happens, and I can capture it in a painting, that’s golden!”

Marty moved to Port Townsend, Washington in the summer of ‘99 and has called the Olympic Peninsula home since then, traveling and painting around the Peninsula, the Puget Sound region, and other parts of the Pacific Coast - where he says he ‘never runs out of inspiration, or subjects’.
